Help make the Election Connection: Your vote counts!
Dear Democracy Advocates,
We've been working hard on a NEW voter education web site -- and we're very proud to announce the launch of 2008 Election Connection: Everything you need to register and vote in North Carolina. The site is accessible through our web site www.democracy-nc.org or directly at www.2008ElectionConnection.com
Election Connection is designed to answer a host of questions about the Who, What, When, Where and How's of voting in North Carolina. It is written in clear language, suitable for people of all ages, whether they've voted before or not. We hope this information will inspire some of 2.5 million eligible citizens in North Carolina who do not vote to participate in the Primary - but we need your help! Please help others "make the connection" by forwarding a version of the pass-it-on paragraph below to family, friends, coworkers and any list servers you may be a member of, or by including a mention of the web site in any letters to editor you send out between now and the May 6th Primary. We've even provided some talking points to make it easier.
Many thanks for your help and please direct any comments on the web site to katymunger@democracy-nc.org. We're continuing to work on additional sections and your input is important to us!
Suggested e-mail to forward to family, friends, coworkers and any appropriate list servers you may be a member of:

Did you know that nearly 40% of eligible adults in North Carolina are not voting? Please help our state do better by sending everyone you know to 2008 Election Connection, a comprehensive website that provides everything you need to register and vote in North Carolina. You can access the site through its sponsor, Democracy North Carolina, at www.democracy-nc.org or go directly to www.2008ElectionConnection.com
Please join me in promoting grassroots democracy and spread the word about 2008 Election Connection. Together, we can increase voter turnout and make sure North Carolina's many voices are heard on May 6th!
Suggested Talking Points:
- A county-by-county analysis of census and election data by Democracy North Carolina reveals that about 900,000 citizens are not registered and another
1.65 million are registered but have not voted in the state in this century. That's almost 40% of all eligible adults in N.C.
- Election Connection addresses such topics "How do I register by mail - and vote by mail?" "Can I vote in the Democratic or Republican primary if I'm registered as Unaffiliated?" "What is Same Day Registration & Voting?" "Where do I register if I'm a college student?" "Where do I vote if I've moved recently?"
- Election Connection provides links to free English and Spanish voter registration forms, to free help hotlines, and to every county board of elections in the state. You do not have to pay for these services - as a citizen, you are entitled to these resources! Election Connection tells you how you can take advantage of them.
Thanks, your Democracy NC Team
